Registration is now open for the 2027 WFCU Southwestern and Northeastern Scripps Regional Final Spelling Bees!
Enrolment process is now through the Scripps Spelling Bee School Portal.
Use the Promo Code: WFCUBEE2027 and WFCU will once again cover the enrolment fee of $199 USD per school for those who register before September 15, 2026.
Enrol Your School
New for this year, participating schools will use the National Scripps Spelling Bee Enrolment Portal. The National Portal is your key resource for planning and hosting a successful Bee. Visit the registration portal for additional information.
- Visit enroll.spellingbee.com/register to get started
- Create a new school account or returning schools can use the same account from last year.
- Find your School by selecting Canada in the International Schools – “Select a country” drop down, and then Ontario – WFCU in the “Select a territory” drop down.
- Fill out your school information.
- Identify a Spelling Bee Coordinator and email address.
- Input the payment details. Use the Promo Code: WFCUBEE2027 before September 15, 2026 for 100% of your enrolment fee to be covered by WFCU.
- Submit and confirm.
Plan and Host Your School Spelling Bee
Once registered, you can access the 2027 school resources to plan and host your School Spelling Bee. Each school can select one spelling bee champion to advance to the Regional Finals.
When you enroll, your school will receive exclusive online access to:
- Study lists for grades 1-8.
- The 2027 Classroom Pronouncer Guide for administering classroom spelling bees.
- The 2027 School Pronouncer Guide for administering a school spelling bee.
- Access to the Bee’s online testing platform.
- Words of the Champions, the 4,000-word study resource for your school spelling bee champion.
- The Bee’s Bookshelf reading list with all sourcebooks for the School Spelling Bee Study List, organized by grade level.
- Supplemental vocabulary materials for classroom and school levels.
- Award certificates for participants and your school champion!
Send Your Champion to Compete in the Regionals
No matter how your school determines their spelling bee champion, all champions from enrolled schools will advance to the Regional Final Spelling Bees based on their region.

Two Ontario Champions will Advance to the Nationals
The WFCU Southwestern and Northeastern Regional Final Spelling Bee Champions will then represent Ontario at the 2027 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. from May 30, 2027 – June 4, 2027.
Your Bee Journey
Part of INSPIRE – WFCU’s community engagement program – the Bee promotes literacy and language arts in a fun and engaging way and provides area youth from grades 1 to 8 the opportunity to compete for a chance to represent the Southwestern and Northeastern Ontario regions at the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
The Bee helps students improve their spelling, increase their vocabulary, learn concepts, and develop correct English usage that will help them throughout their lives. In addition to the academic benefits, students also develop important life skills – such as goal setting, time management, and public speaking – that will help them as they advance in school and eventually to successful careers.
Since 2018, WFCU has sponsored the Scripps Regional Spelling Bee in Ontario. Our spelling bee has since expanded to spellers all across Ontario! Schools from Chatham-Kent, Sarnia-Lambton, and London-Middlesex will compete in the WFCU Southwestern Regional Final Spelling Bee. Schools from Kitchener-Waterloo, the Greater Toronto Area, Peterborough, Oshawa, Kingston, and beyond (within Ontario) will compete in the WFCU Northeastern Regional Final Spelling Bee.
