About the Regional Finals
Part of INSPIRE – WFCU’s community engagement program – the Bee promotes literacy and language arts in a fun and engaging way and provides area youth from grades 1 to 8 the opportunity to compete for a chance to represent the Southwestern and Northeastern Ontario regions at the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
No matter how your school determines their spelling bee champion, all champions from enrolled schools will advance to the new District Bee. This is an additional level of competition, and details of the District Bee will be confirmed before registration ends. The top spellers from each District Bee will compete at the Regional Finals.

How the Bee Works
The Bee helps students improve their spelling, increase their vocabulary, learn concepts, and develop correct English usage that will help them throughout their lives. In addition to the academic benefits, students also develop important life skills – such as goal setting, time management, and public speaking – that will help them as they advance in school and eventually to successful careers.
